After earning a degree in commerce from Liverpool University, Lowri Evans worked in the Audit and Accountancy Department of Deloitte Haskins & Sells.
Evans began her career with the European Commission in 1983, first as an Administrator in DG Financial Control and, later, as a Case Officer in DG Competition. In 1993, Evans became a Member of Commissioner Pádraig Flynn’s Cabinet, serving there until she was appointed Head of Unit at DG Employment in 1995. In 2000, Evans joined DG Competition, where she was subsequently named Director and, in 2006, Director General. In 2010, she was appointed Director General of DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
Evans has served as Director General of DG GROW since 2015.
