Programme

10:00 - 12:30 CET

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Renewable Energy

A rapid transition to renewable energies is of paramount importance, with increasingly frequent occurrences of climate change induced environmental disasters, and geopolitical developments. This transition can be effectively supported by a wide range of EO/GNSS-based solutions, for example: by supporting the deployment of renewable energy production sites, providing inputs for the use of land/space while considering economic activities and environmental impact, or helping to assess available energy potential. This UCP session will focus on user needs, sector trends, and the available Copernicus services for renewable energy.

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Consumer Solutions: EO-Platforms & Consumer Applications

This UCP session will be split into two parts. The morning session will gather the innovative EO platform developers and providers from across Europe to discuss the challenges and propose areas for improvement in space data access. It will be a unique opportunity to share feedback with EUSPA and the Copernicus programme and support the growth and innovation of the EO B2B/B2C midstream industry in Europe.

The afternoon session will bring together EU innovators, entrepreneurs and app developers from the Consumer Solutions market segment to discuss how to leverage the full potential of space data for various applications from Consumer, Tourism and Health. During the session, the participants will validate the user needs and requirements for GNSS and EO services and data and suggest solutions for removing existing market barriers. In addition, the priorities for future research programs will be addressed.

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Infrastructure

European GNSS and EO support all the phases of the infrastructure life cycle, from the initial site selection to the monitoring of construction and post-construction operations. For example, while GNSS helps to further protect and improve the resilience of critical infrastructure relying on timing and synchronization, EO provides detects critical infrastructure motion. This UCP session will focus on user needs and sector trends in the infrastructure sector.

10:00 - 18:30 CET

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Aviation & Drones

This UCP session provides an opportunity to bring together existing and emerging users in aviation and drones to explore the possible future uses of GNSS and EO data that support growth, and ensure that the systems of the future continue to offer the level of performance needed in this regulated sector. The session will look at user needs for GNSS and EO for future evolutions of services and data to enable emerging operational concepts in the air, increase business opportunities, and identify priorities for research, development and innovation.

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Maritime & Fisheries

The UCP Maritime, Inland Waterways, Fisheries and Aquaculture Session is a space where users from the maritime community meet to discuss their needs for applications relying on Positioning, Navigation, Timing and Earth Observation, which will be instrumental for the definition of new potential space data-based services.

The Consultation is engaging with user communities, authorities, industries, service providers and R&D, bringing together expertise and insights from different applications, sharing experiences, and strengthening an EU network of innovators that can strive only by working together.

This new edition will address also topics related to EO and Copernicus, exploring the synergies between these technologies and GNSS (EGNOS and Galileo).

Coordinator: López Martínez, Manuel

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Emergency Management & Humanitarian Aid

This UCP session will bring together user communities, authorities, industry, service providers and academia to inform about recent developments and trends in the field of Emergency Management and Humanitarian Aid. Discussions on the ever-changing needs vis-à-vis the ever-developing challenges will also be held. Applications that will be discussed include the monitoring of geohazards, post-crisis damage assessment and building inspection. In addition, there will be discussions on asset management in humanitarian aid operations, health and medicine response and coordination, with a special focus on the support to Ukraine.

Coordinator: Kalogirou, Vasileios

14:00 - 18:30 CET

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Insurance & Finance

This UCP session will bring together main EU innovators of the insurance & finance sector including EO service providers, insurance companies and financial institutions who will discuss how to leverage the full potential of space data in fintech. This is a unique opportunity for the market stakeholders to share their feedback and contribute to the future developments of Copernicus/Galileo programs helping to improve the services delivered.

Copernicus Networks General Assembly (Day 1)

The 2022 General Assembly (GA) of the Copernicus Academy and Relay networks will be the first held in presence since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a great chance to reengage more closely. Fully in line with the “New Space” angle of this year’s EU Space Week, it will allow participants to network and explore new Copernicus-based entrepreneurial and research opportunities. The General Assembly will also be an invaluable opportunity to get a deep insight into the EU Space Programme and its components, and to participate in engaging discussions with fellow network members. Network members not able to attend the event in person will have the chance to connect remotely.

14:45 - 18:30 CET

EU Space User Consultation Platform - Raw Materials

With the depletion of 'easy deposits' that haven't been developed yet, mining exploration projects explore the most remote parts of the globe, making manual surveys expensive and time consuming. The transition to renewable energy furthermore poses significant pressure on the supply side for critical raw materials like copper and lithium. EO/GNSS data and services are key for raw material resource exploration, operations, and post-closure environmental management. This session will focus on user needs, sector trends, and the available Copernicus services.
