The EU Space User Consultation Platform plenary session will present the first conclusions of the seven sessions taking place on 3rd October.
Programme
The 2022 General Assembly (GA) of the Copernicus Academy and Relay networks will be the first held in presence since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a great chance to reengage more closely. Fully in line with the “New Space” angle of this year’s EU Space Week, it will allow participants to network and explore new Copernicus-based entrepreneurial and research opportunities. The General Assembly will also be an invaluable opportunity to get a deep insight into the EU Space Programme and its components, and to participate in engaging discussions with fellow network members. Network members not able to attend the event in person will have the chance to connect remotely.
Space is a strategic domain that is undergoing a massive transformation. EU needs to consolidate existing assets while developing to face upcoming challenges. We need to reduce our technological dependencies and reinforce the resilience of our value chains. It is critical to ensure the integrity, security and operations of our space infrastructures as well as the flourishing of the EU space ecosystem.
The panel will focus on the need to invest in EU resilience to address the evolutive space sector and boost the competitiveness of the EU ecosystem. Key policymakers will present elements and possible tools for EU resilience. EU companies will showcase their successes and propose viable solutions.
The need for a secure and resilient global connectivity augments with the digitisation of the economy and society and the increasing geopolitical and cybersecurity threats. This session will highlight GOVSATCOM, the EU Space Programme component designed to meet the unique requirements of governmental applications, and the EU’s Secure Connectivity Initiative, which will provide a new level of connectivity across Europe. Let’s listen to key policymakers, industry and users.
