This event will consist of two parts. First, there will be a press briefing with the involvement of representatives from the European Commission, the GSA and the French Navy authorities. This will include a presentation of the various distress situations at sea, along with the different possible space technologies used (Galileo, EGNOS and Copernicus).
The presentation will be made in front of a French naval vessel, after which the event participants will board the tugboat l’Abeille Flandre and undertake a journey to the exercise site. During the demonstration, a Galileo SAR 406 beacon will be activated, the Copernicus Maritime security service as well. French rescue vessel (SNSM), Marine firefighters boat and an EGNOS enabled helicopter will come to the aid of the ‘person in distress.’ The exercise will be followed by a debrief session on the technologies used, with some concluding remarks from the European Commission.
